Who What Where When Why and How?

Let's get down to it. What do you need, what will it cost you, and where is this all going to happen?

You will need:
  • A guitar (Electric, Acoustic, Nylon, or Bass)

  • A Metronome (buy one, download an app on your phone, there are even some websites you can use, as long as you have access to one.

  • A Book... maybe? If you are 12 or under and are a beginner, just go buy Mastering the Guitar Book 1A. (Mel Bay Publishing) Do not buy the one that comes with a CD or DVD, you don't need them. You shouldn't be spending more than $12 or $13. Note: it was written by my college professor. I do no care to make him any extra money, it is just a well written and well organized book

  • Time to Practice... Everyday!!! Well, you get a day off a week, but 10 minutes every day is better than 2 hours twice a week. It's just the way our brains function. We have to convince your short term memory that this is important enough to remember tomorrow, so it needs to get a work out daily.

Where do you teach?

Right now I teach at the Acoustic Musician in Sandy. It is in the back corner of Union Square on the Southwest side of 9400 South and 700 East (behind Walgreens). They are changing ownership. I am in the process of procuring other locations around the valley. Please let me know if you want to take lessons but Sandy is too far. I will concentrate my search in your area or, if it is feasible, I do teach some students at their homes. I am currently residing in Davis County.

When do you teach?

I teach Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 7:00 or 8:00, Saturdays from 10:30 - 3:00. I may add Tuesdays if enough people are interested.

Billing and Policies

Lessons are $85 for four 30 minute lessons.

So that is 4 half hour lessons taught once per week for $21.25 a lesson, or $85 a month, if you will promise to stick with me for at least 3 months. After that, the rate stays down even if you leave for a month or two.

I go out of town from time to time. You don't have to pay for that and I will be able to give you at least 48 hours notice if I won't be there. (more like a month's notice, but we'll say 48 hours to be safe). We'll either schedule a different time that week or you will get a lesson on the next 5th day. If it is less than 48 hours you just don't pay for it, even though I will make it up. Take it off next month's rent.

If you miss a lesson, I don't enforce the same notice time on you, because you most likely won't have that luxury unless you are going on vacation. I have kids, I work, I know life is busy, I can be flexible. You still need to pay for the lesson, but we can make it up as soon as you are able. Above all, get a hold of me when you can. I hope I have communicated that I have a sense of humor and don't take myself too seriously. I don't get upset, I just roll with things. That's part of my job. Just call me so I know what's up, I can accommodate you. (unless you win tickets to see Neil Diamond and are blowing me off to go to the show, then I'll hold a grudge.)
